I may have mentioned before, if not here then on my social media accounts, that I am a big fan of homemade gifts. Christmas, birthdays, pretty much anytime a gift is being given I try to incorporate something I’ve made into it. I love the thought that goes into giving homemade gifts, to me it says “I want to give you my time” and not just “here’s something I grabbed from the store.” Even Tilly makes gifts each year to give to her grandparents, of course she has help but none the less, she is learning that taking the time to make something shows that you care.
I love to crochet and knit but honestly, I don’t always have the time for projects like that. I wish I did because blankets are my favorite gift to give. I’m always on the look out for easy and quick to complete projects. I often pin ideas for new gifts to my Pinterest boards so be sure to follow me there to check out what I find.
This year I am busy working on the fleece dog toys that I wrote about last week for the dog lovers in my family and mason jar survival kits for pretty much everyone. I especially love how easy it is to customize the survival kits, I started with teacher and handyman kits for the adults and have since moved on to creating “rainy day” kits for the kids.
The past two years I’ve shared tutorials for snowmen crafts. First for snowmen cocoa sets and then last year for wall hangings. I love to use snowmen as a theme because they are not religion specific and can be shared with everyone (they make great teacher gifts). Plus, they are just so cute!
I love taking the time (even when its hard to find) to put thought and meaning into my gifts. I hope that this year you’ll join me and start a homemade holiday tradition with your family. I’d love to hear your ideas so please share away!
