With a new school year and a new baby coming we decided we needed a bit of an organization overhaul. I know that life is about to get crazier than it already is (how is that possible?!) so I figured that we better get as much streamlined and organized as possible while we still could.
I’ve been using blog post meal plans and our phones to keep track of things but I felt like we really needed something more obvious and visual. A way to quickly see exactly what was coming up so that we could plan in advance.
Easy Planning Center
I put together this super easy planning center thanks to the dollar store and the back to school section at Target. The whole thing cost me less than $15! Everything is erasable so we can do our meal plan weekly, our to-do list as needed, and our calendar each month. I love that we can stay organized without wasting a ton of paper and it makes it so easy to change things.
I don’t mind the “mix and match” look of it, I actually kind of like it. It’s bright enough to catch our eye (so we keep checking it) but is tucked into a corner so as not to distract from the rest of the house.
After a couple weeks of trying it out, I’m happy to say it’s a big success! I’m toying with the idea of adding a pocket organizer for mail and papers that need to go to work / school but I’m not sure yet. I don’t want it to get too cluttered so I’d have to find just the right organizer.
How do you organize your family for the month / week? I’d love to see your planning centers!
